The meeting also explored solutions to streamline activities for the benefit of the area.

Members of the Eastleigh Business District Association, led by Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Adan, held a meeting with Nairobi City County officials to discuss strategies for managing hawkers in Eastleigh.

The meeting also explored solutions to streamline activities for the benefit of the area.

Nairobi City County officials present included Kamukunji Sub-county Administrator Ronald Mulemba, Kamukunji Sub-county Engineer Ayub Hassan, Kamukunji Sub-county Environment Officer Noah Ngeno, Kamukunji Sub-county Kanjo Commander Rodah Mutai, and all ward environmental officers.

Discussions covered several environmental initiatives, including planned activities for environmental preservation and enhancement.

A major cleaning event was scheduled for this Saturday, focusing on Yusuf Haji Avenue.

The meeting also agreed on tree planting, beautification efforts, and strategic dustbin placements along Yusuf Haji Avenue to improve sanitation.

Nairobi City County officials highlighted the need for revenue collection awareness in Eastleigh. They discussed methods to increase understanding of the county revenue collection process.

Environmental officers emphasised the importance of keeping Eastleigh clean, especially during this rainy season.

Recently, there have been incidents of the Green Army dumping garbage on major roads in Eastleigh, particularly on the busy Yusuf Haji Avenue.

Noah Ngeno pledged to address this issue, promising to collect all the garbage currently disposed of in Eastleigh.

"We shall collect all the garbage as soon as possible. We all want a clean Eastleigh, and we are working on that," said Noah.

The Kamukunji Sub-county Administrator and the Kanjo Commander also promised to address bribery allegations against their team members and ensure rightful revenue collection awareness.

CEO Mohamed emphasised his desire to see the end of hawkers on Yusuf Haji Avenue. He stated that hawkers were causing disruptions by blocking the road and contributing to littering.

"We don't want hawkers in Eastleigh. They have been creating mayhem on Yusuf Haji Avenue," said Mohamed.

Nairobi City County askaris forcefully removed hawkers from Yusuf Haji Road last week without providing any reason.

The meeting aimed to address key issues related to urban management, environmental sustainability, and revenue optimisation within Nairobi City County and Kamukunji Sub-county, particularly in Eastleigh North Ward.
